It's obvious that the game is nearly 15 years old, but it can still look pretty nice. Surprisingly, the aspect ratio isn't bothering me at all. Thankfully the Xbox One's BC is much better, and the game looks really sharp thanks to the resolution boost. I tried to play it on the 360, but the emulation is just terrible. The last time I played KotOR was about 5 years ago on the original Xbox. It encourages you to mix up your selection every once and a while.

I also love how you can get random scenes of dialogue between your two party members. Jolee Bindo is another one of my favourites. Everyone talks about Hk-47 (and for good reason), but he's not the only standout. They're a real likable cast of characters. I also have to give recognition to the party members. I'd be curious to hear what routes everyone else takes. For KotOR, the order I've always liked is Tatooine, Kasshyk, Manaan, and then Korriban. Unfortunately, ME3 was quite linear in comparison. It's a nice feature, and it was carried over into the first two Mass Effect games (if you want a laugh, try rescuing Liara last). This can lead to some minor differences in the story you may get certain party members earlier or later, or face a boss in a different location. One of my favourite things about the game is how it lets you choose the order of the main planets you visit. I'm still early on in my playthrough - I haven't left Taris yet - but it's bringing back memories of all the great locations and characters you meet.

After playing so many modern RPGs, it's been a nice change to go back to the more DnD experience of this game. These games were designed to reach a broader audience than their classic games like Baldur's Gate, but still maintain what makes BioWare games so great. For me, it falls into what I would call the Xbox era of BioWare, which would include KotOR, Jade Empire, and Mass Effect 1. KotOR holds a special place in my heart as it was my introduction to BioWare, and the first RPG I was really interested in. With the recent addition of OG Xbox BC on the Xbox One, I've returned to one of my all-time favourite games: Knights of the Old Republic.
